When you imagine a trip to Disneyland or Disney World, you picture you and your closest friends donning sequenced Mickey Mouse Ears, screaming your lungs out on rides, and just generally enjoying the trip of a lifetime. What you don’t want is tan lines, sunburn, and sweating profusely—all of which is not difficult to imagine in sweltering California and Florida heat.

So the next time you’re planning a Disney tour—and we can arrange that for you—remember these tips to beat the heat.

Pack like a pro

The idea of wearing cute outfits and getting Instagram-worthy pictures at Disney is great, but pack and dress accordingly when you go there.

Sunscreen

After all, Florida is known as the Sunshine State and California is popular for being warm all-year-round. Sunscreen is a necessity; you don’t want to risk getting sunburn and ruining the rest of your trip. Pack your sunblock, with a high SPF, with you and reapply throughout the day.

Your lips are as important as the rest of the skin you slather sunscreen on, don’t forget to use SPF lip balm as well!

Hats

Mickey or Minnie Mouse ears are adorable, I’ll admit, but don’t let the heat get to your head. Keep a hat or cap with you so you can put it on and keep yourself cool.

Misting fan

One expert tip to beating the heat is getting a portable misting fan to carry around with you; trust me, it may seem like an unnecessary purchase but you’ll realize how important it is to cool off in the heat.

Put a towel on it

A genius hack to beat the heat is taking a small towel with you, dipping it in cold water, and putting that on the nape of your neck. This will keep cooling you down as you make your way through the happiest place in the world.

Sunglasses

The fear of losing your sunglasses when you’re on a ride is very real, but don’t let that stop you from shielding your eyes from the bright sun. Get a cheaper pair of sunglasses that you can wear around the Park.

Don’t just dress to impress

We’ve been through this before and there’s no denying that Disney World and Disneyland offer the best backdrops for pictures; for this reason, there are ways to dress smart for the weather while still looking good! Just remember to wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothes so you can move around the Park with ease!

What to do there

The first step is getting there prepared, the next step is what you do when you get there.

Stay hydrated

It’s been said again and again, but stay hydrated! Carry a few disposable bottles with you and refill them whenever you get the chance. If you think those sodas and drinks are enough to keep you hydrated, thank again!

Get drenched

Water rides are a staple of a great Disney experience—who can miss out on The Magic Kingdom or Typhoon Lagoon? Go crazy on the water rides in the afternoon; it’ll be the best experience of your life and you’ll be kept cool.

Start early

Getting a head-start will be the best thing you can do, so that you can come back to your hotel in the afternoon or take a lunch break. It’s a win-win situation: you’ll miss the busiest time and hottest time of the day.

Snack away

Aside from the rides, the snacks options at Disney are just as exciting—they’re always introducing something new and exciting. Try a Dole Whip or ice cream dessert. It’ll keep you cool and give you an excuse to binge on ice cream without guilt.

Now that you know just how to beat the heat and maximize your fun, book  your Disney World tour now!
