They say time heals wounds, but what if time isn’t enough? Some heartbreaks are worse than others, and everyone deals with pain differently; some people get over it quickly, while others take years before they move on.

Sometimes it’s not enough to sit around waiting to feel better; you need to get up and do something that will serve as a catalyst for the healing process. A haircut isn’t always the cure to healing heartbreak, but traveling can be.

How travel helps you heal

If traveling was a person, they’d have magical powers. There’s just something magical about going somewhere new, seeing and experiencing the unknown, and taking in the sights, sounds and smells of new places.

But what does that have to do with a breakup? Traveling is the last thing someone whose world is falling apart from heartache would think of. It shouldn’t be so far off your radar though. Often, we have such a hard time after a breakup because of our dependence on the other person. It’s not always about the person themselves, though, but what they represent to us.

When you’re so used to having someone around for basic and major activities, milestones and moments of your life, it can be hard not having someone around all of a sudden. A breakup is sometimes the push you need to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself to explore new things without having someone else to depend on. It’s loneliness that scares us, not just loss.

Traveling is just one of those experiences that pull you out of the mundane and the routine, and when you’re searching for an escape, it’s the perfect thing to do. Pick a place you haven’t seen, or somewhere you’re comfortable enough to be yourself; ask a few friends or loved ones along, or even take time to go by yourself.

If you’re pressed for time and need a pick me up, there’s nothing better than a Disneyland tour to get you going. There’s something about being surrounded by things that remind you of childhood innocence, happiness and just being carefree.

You’ll have something to do all day, every day, and not just as a distraction, but you’ll truly be able to feel joy. There are so many activities, rides and incredible food for you to enjoy, so much happiness all around, it’s infectious. It’s impossible to feel sad while you’re here.
