This one of a kind resort and camping place rests on a 750 acre area surrounded with pine and cypress forest in Orlando. Between the Epcot and the Magic Kingdom lies Disney Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. This resort has lots to offer to its customers ranging from outdoor campsite activities and events to indoor cozy bedroom cabins. Today this resort has 847 campsites and 363 Wilderness Cabins including Reception Outpost, Meadow Trading Post and Crockett’s Tavern and free wireless internet access all over the resort. Teeming with wildlife such as deer, ducks, armadillos and rabbits. The resort welcomes you to woodland scenery, spectacular pool/recreational areas and lots of entertainment with hearty meals.
History
This rustic themed camping resort was officially opened for public on November 19, 1971. At that time there were only 232 campsites and two comfort stations. In 1973 the expansion of resort added more campsites and ten Airstream trailers and Wilderness Line Steam Railroad was introduced which is now defunct.
Dinning
There are three different dining places within the resort that helps to feed hungry Disney fans while camping with their families and enjoy the magical view.
- P & J’s Southern Takeout
It is a fast-service dinning place that offers its guests with a wide variety of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner which can be enjoyed on the outdoor picnic tables or can be brought back to campsite or cabin.
- Trail’s End Restaurant
It is a cafeteria-styled restaurant found in Pioneer Hall. It is a buffet venue that caters three time meals from breakfast till dinner also has pizza as a late night snack. Brunch is also served on every Saturdays and Sundays.
- Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
It is one of the most popular buffet dinner shows on the property containing hilarious entertainment and family-style guests’ treatment. Prior booking is a must to attend the shows and because of the “no vehicle” rule guests have lots of time to get there. Internal shuttle buses are also available to Pioneer Hall.
Pools And Recreation
There are many pools situated within this resort but the larger main and kids pool is around Meadow Trading Post. Apart from pools here are tons of recreational activities that guests can enjoy with their families which includes:
- Horseback riding.
- Visit petting farm.
- Playing tennis, volleyball, basketball, tetherball, shuffleboard.
- Two arcades and playground area for kids.
- Canoeing and Kayaking in nearby lake
- Going for a jog or bicycling.

Transportation
Due to the wilderness theme, motorized vehicle transportation is forbidden within the grounds unless arriving or exiting the resort. Alternatives can be used for transportation such as bicycles, golf carts, internal shuttle system or walking.
