But his wife convinced him to raise the pup and keep it with rest of the herd. Soon enough the puppy turns out to be a handful, because of which Seppala tried to get rid of it twice. But since it was in vain he decided to have that puppy run with the other dogs and to his bewilderment, the energetic puppy outran the others dogs. So after this event he named the puppy Togo after admiral Togo Heihachiro. Seppala fully trains Togo to the point where it wins All Alaska Sweepstakes earning itself and Leonhard some native reputation.

Therefore Seppala decides to take Togo and rest of the herd to race back and forth with the serum. On the way Aqitalik a local doctor tells Seppala that Togo is too old and is at dying stage. Nevertheless on return journey Leonhard passes the serum to one of the fellow musher Gunnar Kaasan who took the serum back to Nome while Seppala arrive back the next day. People gathered around Leonhard’s house and celebrated Togo’s success. Eventually in the next two years Togo welcomes its own puppies and they will take its place.
