Disney’s Never Ending Love For Doggos

Disney+ debuted an American new original drama movie called Togo in 2019. The movie is based on the true heroic adventures of serum run to Nome in 1925 in Alaska wilderness. It portrays the scenes of how one man named Leonhard Seppala and his sled dog Togo, marched over the deceitful terrain and life endangering situations to protect the Alaska’s town of Nome from an epidemic.

Plot:

In 1913, Leonhard’s wife got a newborn Siberian husky pup, while it was still weak and fragile. Leonhard wanted to retire it. But his wife convinced him to raise the pup and keep it with rest of the herd. Soon enough the puppy turns out to be a handful, because of which Seppala tried to get rid of it twice. But since it was in vain he decided to have that puppy run with the other dogs and to his bewilderment, the energetic puppy outran the others dogs. So after this event he named the puppy Togo after admiral Togo Heihachiro. Seppala fully trains Togo to the point where it wins All Alaska Sweepstakes earning itself and Leonhard some native reputation.

In 1925 an outbreaks occur that mostly affect children. Due to the severe weather conditions the serums can’t be flown towards Nome. Therefore Seppala decides to take Togo and rest of the herd to race back and forth with the serum. On the way Aqitalik a local doctor tells Seppala that Togo is too old and is at dying stage. Nevertheless on return journey Leonhard passes the serum to one of the fellow musher Gunnar Kaasan who took the serum back to Nome while Seppala arrive back the next day. People gathered around Leonhard’s house and celebrated Togo’s success. Eventually in the next two years Togo welcomes its own puppies and they will take its place. In 1929 Togo passes away and Seppala kept on training new dogs. Since this was the true story Togo is still remembered for making the longest run and being a true savior of Nome.

Production:

It was declared on October 2015, that Walt Disney Pictures was developing a movie based on true story of 1925 serum run to Nome. Centering on the characters of Leonhard Seppala and his sled dog Togo.

Tom Flynn wrote the screenplay and Jessica Virtue with Louie Provost was incharge of the production. Ericson Core was pronounced to be the director of the movie on May 16, 2018, and Kim Zubick as the producer. The movie would be debut on Disney+.

The making of the movie started from September 21, 2019 and finished till February 2019. It was finally released on December 20, 2019, after a week’s delay.
