Ever since you read your first Harry Potter book, you wanted that coveted Hogwarts letter! You wanted to get an owl, buy a wand, be sorted into a house by the sorting hat, explore the Forbidden Forest, fly a broom, and do so much more! But alas, that’s all fiction.
Let’s face it; the majority of us Potterheads have aged past our eleventh birthdays so the notion of receiving a Hogwarts acceptance letter is pretty much moot. However, you can experience the next best thing there is: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Orlando.
Designed under the watchful eyes of J.K. Rowling herself, the theme park at Universal Orlando Resort is a dream-come-true. Here are a few things you can try out The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Escape from Gringotts
The popular scene at the goblin-run bank Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2was chock full of thrill and adventure. This attraction at the theme park offers a similar dose of adrenaline as Harry and his friends experienced during their escape. Complete with animatronic goblins and fire-breathing 3D-dragons, the attention to detail is eerily perfect!
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Another popular thrill adventure at the theme park is the motion-based ride situated inside the Hogwarts castle. Augmented by stunning visual effects and 3D-screens, grab a hold of your broomstick as you sweep through the castle along for the journey of a life. If you’ve ever wanted to ride a broomstick like Harry, this is the immersive experience you’re looking for!
Ride the Hogwarts Express
The Hogwarts Express is an actual train that you can hop aboard and ride through to neighboring theme parks. Universal took extreme care in making sure the Hogwarts Express looks and feels exactly the same as in the source material. You will start the ride by exiting through a recreation of the King’s Cross Station and move on from Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade and on to the parks.
Dine at The Three Broomsticks
The popular pub in the novel was where a lot of important scenes took place. The theme park has taken great care to replicate the pub exactly as it is in the books. The Three Broomsticks located at Hogsmeade serves traditional English cuisine like shepherd’s pie, beef pasties, fish and chips, and a lot of other scrumptious treats.
Sip Butterbeer
We’ve all drooled over the thought of sipping delicious, golden warm Butterbeer whenever its mention came up in the book. Fortunately, the Hogsmeade village at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter offers the butterscotch-y, sugary sweet Butterbeer to satisfy your cravings.
